01 NovCan I Do My Own SEO?

If you have a website and want to improve your page rankings, then you will need to do some sort of SEO. Search Engine Optimization is basically internet marketing that almost anyone can do – assuming that they do some research and have a lot of dedication. But, just because you can do your own SEO, it doesn’t mean you should.

There are two parts to SEO: on-page and off-page. If you are technically savvy and in charge of building your own site, then the on-page SEO might not be so difficult. This involves all aspects of coding your website pages so the search engine spiders can read them. Page titles, metadata, M3 validation, dynamic site maps, alt-text, and descriptions are just a few of them. Even if you think that you’ve covered all of these on-page SEO aspects, it still helps to have a fresh pair of eyes to look over your site.

Keyword optimization is the most important aspects of SEO. You could, in theory, do this yourself too using free keyword finder tools. However, you better be sure that you are maximizing your keyword potential for this part of SEO or you could end up losing a lot of potential traffic.

If you somehow have all the know-how and time to do on-page SEO, you probably won’t have the resources for off-page SEO. This is where things get really tricky with building up back links for your site. Then, you will need to build up back links and page rankings for your back links! This means you will spend a lot of time working on sites that aren’t your main one, thus diverting attention from where you should focus. We live in an era where we’ve got people to do everything for us from changing oil to dry cleaning. So, even though you can do your own SEO, why should you?
